IPS BUSINESS SCHOOL organized Five days Workshop on ‘Advanced Excel and Data Analysis’, on 29th May, 2020 to 3rd June. More than 200 students from MBA and BBA participated in the Workshop. Almost 400 participants have been benefited from various corporate houses as well. The Workshop was organized with the aim of providing hands-on experience to the participants, on analyzing raw data, using MS Excel tools. The use of Excel is widespread in the industry. It is a very powerful data analysis tool and almost all big and small businesses use Excel in their day to day functioning.
The workshop has been designed keeping in mind two kinds of learners - those who have very little functional knowledge of Excel and those who use Excel regularly but at a peripheral level and wish to enhance their skills. The participants from both academia and industry have learnt from basic operations such as reading data into excel using various data formats, organizing and manipulating data, to some of the more advanced functionality of Excel.
All along, this workshop on Advanced Excel functionality introduced easy to understand examples which are demonstrated in a way that learners can become comfortable in understanding and applying them. Various advanced graphing and charting techniques available in Excel have been demonstrated. All the students came with laptops, and the Speaker had already shared data to their E-Mail IDs. With that data, he started explaining the concept of Pivot table. He also taught about Pivot table creation, displaying graphs from pivot tables, using filters to get the appropriate graphs, grouping data, single dimension comparison and two-dimension data comparison. The session lasted for five days, and the participants were very keen and enthusiastic. They enjoyed the entire session, as the Speakers interacted with them, and were kind enough to clear all doubts in person, thereby ensuring that the whole session was conducted with all participants on board about what was being taught.
