What is CMAT?
Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) is a government organized computer based national level MBA entrance examination for entry into 1000 AICTE approved management programmes (MBA/PGDM) all over India. Till 2018, CMAT was conducted by AICTE, now the Test is conducted by the National Testing Authority (NTA) constituted by Government of India. More than 70,000 candidates apply for CMAT every year. Last year 74486 candidates had applied for CMAT exam. CMAT offers unique opportunity to all the test takers as none of them is disqualified in its result.  

CMAT 2021
NTA had earlier shared two exam dates for CMAT 2021- February 22/February 27, 2021. With the change in CMAT exam pattern, now the CMAT exam dates are postponed to May 8, 2021.

• This year CMAT exam will be conducted in two shifts: Shift-1 will be from 9AM to 12.30 PM and Shift-2 will be from 3PM to 6.30 PM. The precaution is taken due to Covid-19 pandemic to reduce the single shift strength of test takers at a test centre.
• CMAT 2021 exam will be conducted in 153 cities and more than 250 test centres all over India as online computer based test.
• CMAT 2021 Exam pattern will have 100/125 questions equally divided into 5 sections of 25 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) in each section.

NTA has closed the CMAT 2021 application error correction window on March 7, 2021 at 5 PM. The application edit window was reopened on March 4 after close of extended CMAT 2021 registration date on March 1. The Application edit window was reopened after second phase of registration is over.  CMAT exam is expected on May 8, 2021. Revised CMAT 2021 exam schedule will be released shortly by NTA. 

NTA had announced the revised CMAT-2021 Entrance Examination date as May 8, 2021 on its website under 'Active Exams' and then removed this information. Now NTA displays 'To be decided later" in the CMAT exam date column. Earlier the CMAT 2021 was to be conducted on Feb 22 and 27, 2021.

AICTE has also proposed important changes in the examination pattern with an additional but optional section in CMAT Entrance Examination. Key Changes in CMAT registration and exam dates, pattern are as under:

National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced following important changes in CMAT 2021:

• Exam Dates Postponed: CMAT-2021 Entrance Examination date is postponed to May 8, 2021.  
• Exam Pattern Changed with Option for New Course: AICTE has changed the examination pattern with a new course on Innovation and Entrepreneurship. An additional (optional) section in CMAT 2021 is added with 25 questions. The details are as follows:

• Those candidates who had not applied earlier may register now for the above examination till Feb 25. Candidates who had applied earlier can opt for this course by editing their Application Form during the correction window which will be made available after the closure of this fresh registration.
• NTA will conduct CMAT 2021 exam as a computer based test. CMAT 2021 exam registration process had started on December 23, 2020 and the last date to apply is March 1, 2021. 
• CMAT 2021 exam is delayed due to Covid-19 pandemic situation. National Testing Agency had released the CMAT 2021 notification on December 23, 2020 with complete exam schedule and testing mode. With the given change in CMAT 2021 exam schedule from February to May 21, news date is also announced.
• Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) 2021 is the entrance exam for admission to MBA/PGDM 2021-23 in the AICTE approved management institutes and will be conducted by NTA as computer based test of three hours/three and half hours duration. The high score in CMAT 2021 will offer MBA admission opportunities to AICTE approved MBA/PGDM programmes in 1000 B-schools in India.  

Key Evaluation Areas in CMAT Exam 2021:

• The three hour computer based online CMAT exam evaluates a candidate’s ability in Quantitative Technique, Logical Reasoning, Language Comprehension and General Awareness areas. This year a new optional section on Innovation and Entrepreneurship with 25 questions of 30 minutes duration is also added.
• CMAT 2021 score will be accepted by all AICTE-Approved Institutions/University Departments/Constituent Colleges/Affiliated Colleges like JBIMS, SIMSREE, Welingkar Mumbai, PUMBA among others.
