THE IPS BUSINESS SCHOOL ALUMNI-DUO TURNED ENTREPRENEURS VISITS THEIR ALMA MATER

Elon Musk is an MBA graduate from The Wharton School. Phil Knight, the founder of Nike, did his MBA from Stanford. Deep Kalra and Sanjeev Bikhchandani, founders of MakeMyTrip and naukri.com respectively, are both alumni of IIM Ahmedabad.  Raghav Bahl, founder of TV18 and The Quint, has FMS as his alma-mater. And the hugely successful Entrepreneurial duo of Dishebh Gupta and Manish Swami, the Co-founders of Healthwave – a Medico-Diagnostic start-up with a Health Advisory USP achieving a turnover of over 2 crores inside 7 months of initiation are the alumni of IPS BUSINESS SCHOOL.

And on 5th March 2021, the 2020-22 MBA Batch of IPS BUSINESS SCHOOL were excited to interact with this Entrepreneurial Alumni Duo of 2017-19 batch during their visit to the campus for the ‘Meet Your Alumnus’ program – a regular feature of IPS BUSINESS SCHOOL.

During their address, Manish and Dishebh stressed on the fact that all successful new ventures start as great ideas. But not all great ideas translate into successful ventures. An entrepreneur needs to possess a special mix of creative mindset, business acumen, and an innovative approach to turn the spark of an idea into a marketable proposition that investors will want to back. They added that in the case of Healthwave though they had approached and presented their idea to a couple of investors – they actually did not take any money from any investors – as their sole objective behind meeting investors was to test whether their idea was exciting and marketable – and not to get their start-up funded.

The entire venture was started with an investment of One Lac Rupees, which the co-founders themselves contributed from their savings, as Manish Swami was working with Bajaj Finserv as Area Manager which he had conjured as a PPO during his internship with the organization and Dishebh Gupta who is a University Rank-holder in MBA was involved with his Family Business.

The dynamic duo unanimously proclaimed that their MBA journey at IPS BUSINESS SCHOOL, was instrumental in developing the essential ‘blend of skills’ – required for an Entrepreneur. Whether you’re looking to start your own venture or lead the innovation agenda from within your organization as an intrapreneur, you need to learn how to be entrepreneurial – this was their advice for their juniors.

The duo went to elucidate that IPS BUSINESS SCHOOL pedagogy build your core capacity of Design Thinking and Innovative Problem Solving, and the students are encouraged to nurture an idea for a new product or service, develop a value proposition, carry out customer discovery research, validate the product or service, and create a fully-fledged business proposal.

They concluded by reiterating their belief that - ‘Knowledge is power’. This cannot be truer when it comes to entrepreneurship. An MBA, they said will help you gain a holistic and comprehensive view of how businesses function. Right from performing market research as part of IPS BUSINESS SCHOOL assignments to raising funds and managing your events organized at IPS, An IPSian understands how the finance, marketing, operations and HR departments of an organization gel together and work towards achieving the common organizational goal. Besides, the curriculum at IPS BUSINESS SCHOOL is designed in a way to encourage students to look beyond placements into the realm of business and entrepreneurship.

They were univocal in accepting that an MBA from IPS BUSINESS SCHOOL gave them a taste of business life, in the form of internships and live projects, and this was the differentiator which gave them confidence when they stepped into the real world.
